I recently came across a Lush store and was immediately interested. Their focus on natural ingredients felt very similar to what I’ve been building with LushLeafy.
I spoke with one of the associates and shared that I’ve been focusing more on skincare. I even showed her my site and asked if they had samples I could use for reviews. She mentioned that they have testers available in-store and smaller versions for purchase, but I didn’t have the time or budget to try anything that day.
Even so, the experience left me excited and curious. It’s encouraging to see a space that values natural products and thoughtful formulations.
🌿 What Stood Out to Me
As I walked through the store, a few things really stood out.
There was a section off to the side with charcoal toothpaste, and then something I hadn’t seen before—powdered mouthwash tablets in a crème de menthe flavor. That immediately caught my attention. I found myself wondering how that even works and what the experience would be like.
I also noticed a clay-based face wash, which surprised me. While it looked interesting, it made me pause and think about how something like that might feel on already sensitive or reactive skin.
🌿 The Fragrance Factor
One of the first things I noticed when I walked in was the scent.
Everything smelled good—but it was also strong. For someone with sensitive skin, that raised a flag for me. Many products that rely heavily on fragrance, even natural fragrance or essential oils, can sometimes lead to irritation.
It made me think about how important it is to look beyond how something smells and consider how it actually interacts with your skin.
🌿 When “Natural” Isn’t Always Gentle
Lush is known for using natural ingredients, which is something I appreciate.
But over time, I’ve learned that “natural” doesn’t always mean gentle—especially for sensitive or reactive skin.
Ingredients like essential oils, plant extracts, and even some clays can be beneficial in the right context, but they can also be too much depending on your skin’s condition.
That’s why understanding what’s in a product matters just as much as how it’s marketed.
🌿 Price vs Practicality
Another thing I noticed was the price.
While the products looked interesting, many of them were outside my budget at the time. That made me think more about how practical a skincare routine needs to be—especially when you’re trying to keep things simple and consistent.
Sometimes the best routine isn’t the most expensive one, but the one you can maintain comfortably.
🌿 My Takeaway
Walking into the store was a good reminder that skincare isn’t just about what looks or sounds good—it’s about what actually works for your skin.
For some people, Lush products may work well. But if your skin is sensitive, reactive, or going through changes, it may be worth approaching more cautiously.
Paying attention to ingredients, how your skin responds, and keeping your routine simple can make a bigger difference than adding more steps.
🌿 Final Thoughts
There’s nothing wrong with being curious about new products or trying something different. I still find the brand interesting, and I may revisit it in the future when I have more time to explore.
But for now, I’m reminded that simple, gentle routines tend to work best for my skin.
If your skin has become more sensitive or reactive, focusing on fewer, more supportive products can often bring better results than trying to do too much.
